GIIC2017 – Gauteng to promote engagement and investment in the province
The Gauteng Provincial Government is hosting the second Gauteng Infrastructure Investment Conference (#GIIC), with a view to engage the private sector and attract investments in pursuit of the Transformation, Modernization and Re-Industrialization strategy. The conference takes place from 27-28 July 2017 at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand.

Themed “Driving investment for inclusive growth and sustainability”, the two-day gathering will look at how the Gauteng government and the private sector can collaborate and attract investments towards the growth of province.

Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, the Deputy President of the Republic will deliver a keynote address.

The Gauteng Infrastructure Investment Conference is a government-led interactive conference providing a 360 degree view of Gauteng infrastructure strategies, development, investments and opportunities. It brings together key decision makers in government and the private sector- both local and international- in a collaborative, results driven forum that facilitates collective planning, procurement, management and monitoring of province’s infrastructure projects.

It also serves to strengthen partnerships and collaboration between government and the private sector in the quest to build Gauteng as a globally competitive city region and a preferred destination for investment and tourism.

It is expected to attract over 1000 delegates and focuses on key three areas: trade and investment promotion; strategic economic infrastructure; and business enablement. Amongst the key attendees will be policymakers, fund and investment managers, private equity firms, development funding institutions, banks, town planners, engineers, academics and ICT specialists.

Investment opportunities will include amongst others: new post-apartheid cities, energy, ICT and broadband connectivity; Aerotropolis; water and sanitation; and inner-city regeneration.

The 2017 conference will also seek to respond to various alternative funding mechanisms for Gauteng’s infrastructure development, spatial transformation plans, building inclusive cities, attending to issues relating investor confidence as well as plans regarding Africa’s re-industrialisation.
